We’re excited to announce that we are teaming up with one of Lancashire’s most famous street artists to create a special mural to acknowledge the fantastic work that is being done by our local NHS and other key workers.
The colourful tribute will be completed by Keiron ‘Curly’ Whitehead using our Sandtex X-Treme X-posure smooth masonry paint in a range of colours. The ‘blank canvas’ for the mural is an end of terrace house on Hollins Road – just a few yards from our HQ in Darwen!
Work on the project is now underway and weather dependant, will hopefully be completed by early May.
Better known as Curly, Keiron has been a graffiti artist for over 20 years but he also works full time for the NHS. Based in Darwen, Keiron holds important roles in both the accounts department of the ELFS Shared Services, which provides financial and payroll support to 35 NHS organisations across the UK, and Lancashire’s out-of-hours emergency care service, where he works as a navigator driver at weekends.
Commenting, Keiron said: “I’m so proud to work alongside Crown Paints to create this mural. I really hope the community enjoys the artwork as much I know I will enjoy creating it and I’m sure the message of gratitude that has inspired the design will go far and wide”.
Our Corporate Communication Executive Josie Cawdry added: “Along with the rest of the UK, we are extremely grateful to our keyworks and especially proud of our NHS. It’s been heartening to see so many colourful drawings and messages of support displayed in people’s windows and we thought that it would be nice to do something a little more permanent! We hope that our mural not only raises a few smiles in the local community but also serves as a lasting tribute to thanks we all owe to our amazing NHS and key workers.”
We’ll be following the work on the mural as it progresses so be sure to follow our social media channels and keep checking back on our website for more details and images.
