We’re delighted to have donated 200 litres of paint to the Colours of Spring Bank art project in Hull, where Crown Paints products are manufactured.
The ongoing project will see artists painting a new mural and block colours on a number of houses and properties that are home to small businesses in the area to brighten up the space, using Sandtex 365 All Weather Masonry paint for the exterior of the buildings.
Artlink Hull has commissioned artists Shaz Darley and Skeg to create a project that promotes the unity, diversity and community spirit of the area. True Colours, the concept of Spring Bank, gave residents a voice to say what colours and what type of art they want to see on their street. Shaz had a palette of more than 150 Sandtex colours, which she narrowed to 24, and these were then given to the community for a public vote. As a result of the vote, which received around 700 responses, there is now a palette of 17 colours to be used across the project.
These colours will be used to add colour to the buildings, which will be enhanced by other interventions such as light installations in the coming months. The project aims to generate future investments into the area and attract more visitors.
Commenting on our paint donation, Shaz said: “Artists like me welcome contributions like this from Crown Paints, as it means we can deliver on what communities are asking for with confidence in the product we’re using.”
