Having previously used the Sandtex Trade Flexigloss X-tra system on several occasions where clients wanted a high gloss finish that could ‘flex’ with the substrate, Andy decided to put his trust in another product in the Sandtex Trade range, namely Eggshell X-tra.
“There are so many colours in the Sandtex Trade colour collection, it wasn’t difficult to find an exact colour match to the previous paint shade,” said Andy. “Leicester Crown Decorating Centre tinted and mixed a sample tin of Eggshell X-tra for me and I painted up a trial area of the Orangery that could be seen by the hotel owners and managers before I went ahead with the full job. Preparing the trial area not only reassured my client that I’d made the right choice of coating, it also put my mind at rest that the two-coat maintenance system I’d quoted for would achieve the desired results.”
After washing down the woodwork and filling areas in need of repair, he applied a coat of Sandtex Trade Primer Undercoat. “This was very clearly a premium product,” he said, “it was thick, but it flowed off the brush really well and provided a very good base.” This was followed by a single coat of Sandtex Trade Eggshell X-tra.
